Battlefield 3 Team Deathmatch capped at 24 players

24 August 2011

It’s in the title already, but in case you’d like to see that again, DICE has confirmed that Battlefield 3’s Team Deathmatch mode supports a maximum of 24 players on all platforms.

Including PC, yes.

According to a post on the BFBlog, the mode won’t feature any vehicles either, and “will be focused entirely on tight infantry portions of regular maps” instead.

“While 24 players doesn’t sound like much compared to 64 players in conquest mode, remember that the map is tighter, the gameplay is more focused and intense,” writes DICE’s Toshiro Tanaka.

“Bad Company 2′s squad deathmatch was limited to 16 players and never managed to feel inadequate. Which leads us to squad deathmatch in Battlefield 3: it hasn’t been confirmed, but it’s easy to imagine 12 player teams be split up into 3 squads in Team Deathmatch.”

But seriously, who plays Team Deathmatch, anyway? Battlefield is all about Rush.
