Another World coming to iOS later this month

8 September 2011

Are you a masochist? Do you own an iPhone and/or iPad? If you answered “yes” to both of these questions, I’ve got great news for you – Eric Chahi’s Bastard Hard-class platformer Another World is coming to iOS later this month.

Think Oddworld with vector art and laser guns, and you’re halfway there.

Eric Chahi is of Heart of Darkness and From Dust fame.

Another World’s iOS debut is just another in a long lineup of platforms, including the original Amiga, Apple IIGS, Atari ST, DOS, Mega Drive, SNES, Mac OS, 3DO, Mega-CD, GBA, Windows, Symbian mobile, Nintendo DS – not all of these strictly “official”, of course.

The special 20th Anniversary Edition features both the original and upgraded HD visuals, which can be swapped about with a gesture, as well as touch control and on-screen D-pad options.

The game also brings in three difficulty levels – Normal (easier than original game), Difficult (equal to original game) and Hardcore (more difficult than original game).

How could they possibly make this game any harder? I’m guessing it electrocutes your loved ones when you stuff up.

The game’s out 22 September 2011, and tagged at $4.99 / 3,99€ / £2,99 /; about R30 or so.
