Afrihost took the wraps off their latest online product on Thursday, 8 September 2011 – AfriGamer Servers.

The new Afrihost gaming servers sportssome of the most popular online gaming titles, including Counter-Strike Source, Team Fortress 2, Left 4 Dead 2, Brink and Homefront.

The company is also planning to expand on their gaming titles. “We will be expanding our list of gaming titles in the coming weeks as more people start using the service, so check back often to see what cool new games we have available,” Afrihost said in a press statement.

The AfriGamer Servers are open to all Internet users, but Afrihost advises users to use one of their accounts to ensure the lowest possible latency.

The Afrihost gaming servers are hosted on the Internet Solutions (IS) backbone in the IS/Afrihost data centre.

Afrihost however highlights that their gaming servers are separate from the IS gaming servers and are fully managed by the Afrihost team.

Afrihost CEO Gian Visser said that they have many gamers as loyal clients and this is one of the ways in which they are trying to add more value to their clients.

“Our Gamers are valued and important clients to us and as such we have a whole bunch of exciting gamer specific initiatives planned over the next few months,” said Visser.

Visser said that consumers can expect the first Afrigamer ADSL packages as early as next month (October 2011).
