WAGE confirms official EA Battlefield 3 servers on its network

9 September 2011

The gaming division of South African Internet Service Provider Web Africa, WAGE (Web Africa Gaming Experience), has confirmed that they will be hosting official EA ranked servers for Battlefield 3.

“After much anticipation, WAGE is proud to announce that we have finalized our [Ranked Server Provider (RSP)] status with EA and DICE,” said Web Africa Games Master Robert Tait.

“I can confirm that we will officially be hosting Battlefield 3 servers. Battlefield 3 is probably the most sought after and perhaps the most important recent release on the gaming release calendar,” added Web Africa’s David Eini, second in command to Tait.

“We have received numerous requests from the gaming community regarding our RSP status with EA. We here at WAGE believe that this will undoubtedly be a phenomenal game and so we are expecting massive online support from gamers and clan owners in South Africa,” said Tait.

WAGE confirmed that they will be hosting four Battlefield 3 64-player ranked servers. These servers will be powered by Intel Xeon processor technology.

“Our Xeon servers…should provide and exceed the required operating specifications for optimum stability and little lag,” said Tait.

Preliminary servers names have been drawn up, but these are not yet final:

•    WAGE – Ticonderoga
•    WAGE – Hood
•    WAGE – Anvil
•    WAGE – Airborne

Battlefield beta participation

WAGE also plans to involve the South African gaming community in the beta testing phase of their servers.

“We will be enjoying the company of other RSP’s as well as fellow gamers while we test the servers in beta stage. We will be providing these [beta keys] to the members of the MyGaming forums as well as a general giveaway on a first come first serve basis,” said Tait.

Battlefield 3 clan servers

Tait said that there is a “strong possibility” that WAGE will be providing private servers for clans. “Servers will be charged for at a competitive rate should we proceed,” he said.

“At the moment I cannot confirm that we will be providing clans servers. Considering that we have a large number of clans that we provide servers to, such as Pew Pew and Ventus, we may provide sponsored servers,” added Tait.

WAGE will be giving away four copies of the Battlefield 3: Limited Edition packs in a competition they plan to host soon.
