Blizzard to release two WoW expansions before 2014

10 September 2011

If you really, really love clicking, you’re going to love this. Blizzard has revealed that they will be producing six games/expansions over the next three years. More importantly for you frantic clickers, two of these will be World of Warcraft expansions.

This information comes via Activision Blizzard COO Thomas Tippl, at the Citi Technology Conference. Perhaps getting ahead of themselves, Blizzard have even told us to expect the first Diablo 3 expansion by the end of 2014.

The other projects include the two Starcraft 2 expansions, Heart of the Swarm (Zerg) and Legacy of the Void (Protoss), both of which will be out before 2014.

All these dates and schedules seem to go against the grain of what we know about Blizzard, typically we expect a one column table of all their games with a “when it’s done” release date in brackets.  Perhaps Kotick has been cracking the whip a little over there, the man is nothing if not time efficient.

Either way, looks like there’ll be hordes of new forest critters to hack to death into the wee hours of the morning, so WoW players may rejoice.
