Capcom under fire for new Resident Evil character

11 September 2011

Capcom’s newest entrant into their smash hit franchise, Resident Evil, has come under fire from gamers due to the introduction of a new minor character.

In a shocking turn of maturity from the gaming world, the newest character is described as “a pair of walking tits”. Looking at the character, however, its hard to disagree.

It would seem today’s gamers want a little more than the games of old, and playing with the camera angles to try and look up Lara Croft’s shorts just isn’t cool anymore. These days its about immersion, character development and a good story arc.

A discussion over on Kotaku notes that the character’s face is mostly covered by her hair anyway, leaving you not much else to look at. It’s also noted that in a game which uses horror as its central appeal, a character can’t display emotion.

It would seem the character is not much more than a pair of pixellated boobs to look at when taking a break from fighting hordes of zombies, adding nothing in particular to the “horror” experience.

Do you think this kind of lazy character creation is abhorrent, or are you already setting her as your wallpaper?
