Platinum Games’ on-again, off-again Bayonetta sequel is back in the news, this time via unofficial Sega news site, TSSZ.
According to the post, the site’s anonymous inside “source” claims an announcement is coming “fairly soon”, with speculation it could happen as soon as this weekend, at the Tokyo Games Show.
Last month, Bayonetta game designer Hideki Kamiya responded to fan queries on Twitter about a sequel announcement by promising one “this week… in a game magazine” although it turns out he was being sarcastic or something.
His colleague Atsushi Inaba later said there’s “no such announcement”, and warned fans that Kamiya has a strange sense of humour.
Almost a year ago, Inaba told Eurogamer that Platinum “would love” to make a second Bayonetta game, but would do so only when “the time is right”.
TSSZ’s source also confirmed that an animated Bayonetta spin-off project is in production at a Sega Sammy studio.
