Infinity Ward confirms no Prestige Edition for Modern Warfare 3

19 September 2011

If you loved your night vision goggles and radio-controlled surveillance car, and were hoping to add a full-sized replica Abrams tank or an Apache gunship or perhaps a thermonuclear detonator to your Call of Duty Prestige Edition collectible arsenal, you’re in for a bit of disappointment.

Infinity Ward’s Robert Bowling has confirmed over Twitter that, for some reason or another, there won’t be a Prestige Edition for Modern Warfare 3. Your plans to terrorise Christmas lunch with a full-scale pretend-invasion will obviously have to be rethought.

That leaves only the $99 Hardened Edition for those of you who want something extra special, although whether or not a year’s subscription to the Call of Duty Elite service and a bunch of exclusive emblems count as “extra special” is entirely a matter of perspective, and/or readily disposable cash.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will be out on 8 November 2011.
