If you just can’t wait until the PS Vita launches over here, you might want to consider importing one from Japan.
Sony’s president of Worldwide Studios, Shuhei Yoshida, has confirmed that the device is region-free, so there’s no arbitrary bureaucratic barrier between you and augmented reality.
The handheld is expected to launch on 17 December 2011 over in Japan, but doesn’t yet have an official launch date for everywhere else, so you could save yourself a lot of time, by spending a lot more money.
It’s also good news for gamers because it means you’ll be able to import games from any region, which just makes sense in today’s global market, doesn’t it?
Of course, Sony has also said that all Vita games will be available in a digital download format, but with the recent announcement of the device’s outrageously expensive memory cards, it might work out better to buy physical copies.
