Steam has a lot of things going for it, but my personal favourite thing about it (and probably everyone else’s) is the specials. Nothing feels quite as good as getting something awesome for dirt cheap, and Steam has some ridiculous specials.
They’re currently running a great one, for this weekend only – Company of Heroes is a whopping 80% off its normal price. This includes both the original game and the two expansions – you can get all three for a paltry 10 dollars (about R80), or you can just get the original for only 2 dollars (less than R20).
If you’ve never played Company of Heroes, this is a perfect excuse to give it a try, it’s an extremely polished game, and one of the best RTS games ever made. Don’t take my word for it, let the Metacritic score of 93 speak for itself.
The best part about this game are definitely the Single-player missions, so if you’re a campaign kinda person, it’s definitely worth a look as these are probably the most entertaining set of missions in an RTS to date.
The expansions’ campaigns don’t quite measure up, but the addition of two playable forces in Opposing Fronts makes it worth it for the low price. If you have to cut one, make it the final expansion, as it doesn’t include any new factions, just a few units, and the single-player missions aren’t that great either.
