Nintendo showcase at rAge 2011

26 September 2011

Nintendo has revealed its exhibition line up for the 2011 rAge gaming and consumer electronics expo, which is taking place from 30 September to 2 October at The Coca-Cola Dome in Northgate, Johannesburg.

Preview Games for the 3DS

Mario Kart 7 will be available on 2 December and will include a new optional first-person driving mode that is controlled using the gyro sensor. The game also introduces new playable characters like Lakitu and Metal Mario, and a tricks system like the one in Mario Kart Wii.

Super Mario 3D Land is a new Mario game due for release on 18 November. It is a 3D Mario platforming adventure. Players can scout levels and find secrets before they play using the built-in gyro sensor of the Nintendo 3DS system. The game will also feature propeller blocks and will have StreetPass functionality.

Kid Icarus: Uprising is follow-up to the NES classic, and will feature stereoscopic 3D and features both air-and ground-based combat against a range of enemies.

Gamers will also get a first hand look at Resident Evil Revelations and Metal Gear Solid 3D.

Other attractions include the just-released graphically re-mastered StarFox 64 3D as well as Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D, which were released earlier this year.

Preview Games for the Wii

The next instalment of The Legend of Zelda franchise – now celebrating 25 years – comes exclusively to Wii.

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword launches on 18 November. Expo visitors will at rAge get a chance to guide Link on his journey. The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword lays the foundation for the events in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, and allows players to use MotionPlus technology for sword combat for the first time in a Zelda game.

Go Vacation Wii, which is available later this year, will be on show. Players can unlock 50 varying activities ranging in category from sports simulations to dance-based challenges either in single player or multiplayer mode.
