The South African Game Development community will have a presence at rAge 2011, taking place at the Coca-Cola Dome in Northgate, Johannesburg from 30 September to 2 October.
“South Africa has a lot of talented and professional game developers lurking around, so we decided to round them all up at rAge 2011 so you can have your questions answered, play their games and see what the world of game development is doing in South Africa,” said Sven Bergström of Underscore Discovery, who will be hosting this year’s Game Dev stand at rAge.
Game Development Community Sessions
On the cards for rAge2011 are a whole bunch of talks, meet ups with local game developers, and Q&A sessions with the award winners and professionals that make game development a possible career in South Africa.
The talks will mostly take place on the Saturday of the event (1 October 2011). The Castle Corner room has been booked for this and it will be packed with information on breaking into the game industry, what the game industry is doing and where one can find out more.
“We have information on all the educational institutions that can teach you about making games, whether it is art or programming degree we have what you need to know,” said Bergström. “We will be at the expo the entire weekend, with special guests and local games being played, demos being run and the Saturday sessions to complete the weekend.”
“If you are interested in playing games, working as a game developer, learning how to make games or in becoming part of the local game development communities, you have to be there!” cloncluded Bergström.
