Kaspersky Labs, a rather large European antivirus software company, will be wandering around the rAge 2011 expo taking place in Johannesburg from 30 September to 2 October 2011, providing information to visitors about effective security measures for online gaming, as well as letting them test out their products.
Sergey Golovanov, Malware Expert at Kaspersky Lab, has noted that over the years online gaming has shown high activity and growth, and as such has become attractive to cybercriminals (Sony PSN hack, anyone?).
“We have identified the gaming industry as a sector that remains fruitful among cybercriminals and are proud to be a part of this event, as it allows us the opportunity to educate and make an important and beneficial difference to the world of online gaming.”
Gamers are a fickle bunch, so Kaspersky also has up for grabs two VIP tickets to the Formula 1 event in Sao Paulo in November 2011 up for grabs; just to give you some incentive to break from gawking at all the games and tech on show. To enter stop by the Kaspersky stand at rAge.
Speaking of Formula 1, fans should be sure to enter the MyGaming F1 2011 game give away.
