All Witcher 2 DLC free on PC, not so much on Xbox

28 September 2011

In news that probably won’t surprise anybody, CD Projekt has confirmed that while all Witcher 2 DLC for PC is and will continue to be totally, 100% free, that’s probably not going to happen on Xbox.

Microsoft has rules about free stuff that mostly involve not allowing it.

“All DLC for the PC version is and will remain FREE,” development director Adam Badowski told Rock Paper Shotgun. “That’s not likely to be the story for the Xbox version, because of certain Microsoft policies that need to be followed. But on PC, once you buy our game, you don’t need to worry about any additional costs – we will provide all updates, including those featuring new content, for free.”

He also said that no premium expansion packs are planned for the moment, but if the company were to do something like that, it’d be “a more classic expansion pack along the lines of, say, Baldur’s Gate: Tales of the Sword Coast.”

The Witcher 2 is due out on Xbox around the first quarter of 2012.
