rAge 2011 expo highlights and schedule

The rAge 2011 gaming and consumer electronics expo is right around the corner, kicking off on 30 September at the Coca-Cola Dome in Johannesburg.

The expo has become South Africa’s spiritual centre of gaming and anyone serious about the hobby should be making their way there this weekend from all corners of the country.

The latest games currently available and yet to be released will be on display alongside hardware vendors showing off their beastliest gadgets (and holding sales specials), all surrounded by plenty of gaming culture from the 2,100+ person NAG LAN @ rAge to cosplay, anime and table top games, and of course, the sexy booth babes.

Below we have the full run down of coll stuff to see and do at rAge 2011. As always, things are subject to change without prior announcement.

Artworks of Jolene Boshoff aka Joe Doe will be on display at the Artists Alley.  Joe Doe has been living through her art for most her life and continues to explore and push the boundaries of art exploration every day. In recent years, Jolene has gained cult popularity within the wildlife circles with her vivid depiction of mysterious leopards and other wildlife.  Lately Jolene has started exploring the bonds between women and nature, delving into the notion of ‘getting back to nature’ and as she puts it, “the great loss we suffer by secluding ourselves in a post-modern society of quick fixes and silicon dreams.”

IT HUMAN INTEREST SUCCESS STORY:
Goodwill Kwenza came from a previously disadvantaged background with no education behind him. He was disabled in a taxi accident many years ago, rendering him unemployable with no education. Goodwill was selected by the 94.7 Christmas Wishlist initiative to study with Dynamix Learning Solutions. Without any experience, Goodwill struggled with his studies.  Dynamix sponsored for him start again on much needed pre-requisite courses.

In 2011 Goodwill graduated top of his class and was immediately employed, now earning a good salary and owns a house.

Microsoft chose him, out of every story submitted globally, for his story to be screened at the Microsoft Worldwide partner conference as a success story within IT.  Based on his story, Microsoft has now started a foundation named after him to help underprivileged around the world.

To view the video, visit http://www.microsoft.com/presspass/presskits/learning/videoGallery.aspx and select Dynamix Learning Solutions.
