Luma Arcade is a San Francisco-based, South African-born game studio, with development offices in Johannesburg.
The dev has announced a new mobile game developed with Unity Technologies’ Unity game engine – Bladeslinger.
Why should this excite you? Well, for one thing, the game looks really pretty; something we’re not used to seeing when it comes to games being released on the mobile platform. For another thing, it’s great seeing South African talent making waves in the gaming scene.
The game is a third-person action brawler, where players must defeat multiple enemies at once in both ranged (guns!) and close (blades!) combat as protagonist, William Glaston, tries to figure out what the hell is behind the nightmarish changes in his home town of Hammer’s Peak.

Using the Unity engine, Luma Arcade is bringing their dystopic brawler to an entire host of mobile devices running iOS and Android.
The gameplay has (obviously) been designed around touch screen controls and will feature an upgradeable and customisable lead character with promises or plenty of replay value.
The game is said to show off the visual power of next-gen mobile systems.

Unity Technologies CTO, Joachim Ante, said that Bladeslinger is another step forward for mobile platforms.
“What Luma Arcade has managed to do with the Unity is amazing. This is one of the best looking mobile games we’ve ever seen and we’re psyched that it was designed using our technology,” said Ante.
Who says mobile games can’t be pretty?
