Blizzard won’t be showing its Titan MMOG at BlizzCon 2011

29 September 2011

Following rumour, speculation, and wishful thinking that Blizzard would be officially announcing its unofficially announced MMOG, codenamed “Titan”, at BlizzCon next month, the company has confirmed that nuh-uh, no way is that happening.

The bad news comes via IGN, who cites an unidentified Blizzard representative for the reality check.

Not much is known about the project, although it’s been in and out of headlines since 2007 already, after Blizzard published a series of job listings for “Top Secret”, “Next-Gen MMO”, later confirming that it was not a new World of WarCraft expansion, or a sequel to that game.

Most recently, Blizzard’s Mike Morhaime talked about the game at the Design, Innovate, Communicate, Entertain Summit back in February, saying, “”Without giving away any details, we have some of our most experienced MMO developers, people who spent years working on the World of WarCraft team, working on this project. We’re really trying to leverage all the lessons we learned through the years. Some of which we were able to address in World of WarCraft and others that maybe because of the design decisions we’ve made, you just can’t address. So we’re kind of taking a step back with all that knowledge to make something that’s completely new and fresh. We’re not trying to make a WoW sequel.”
