I Am Alive resurfaces, still alive

29 September 2011

Ubisoft’s rather fittingly named I Am Alive is, as it turns out, still alive and kicking.

When it was originally announced a few years back the game made waves, partly due to the fact the Assassin’s Creed producer Jade Raymond was working on the project, and partly because it seemed like a cool concept.

The game then disappeared off the radar for a while, only to resurface today.

Ubisoft has announced that I Am Alive will be released digitally on PlayStation Network and Xbox Live towards the end of this year.

Not that much is known about the game, but what we do know paints a pretty intriguing picture.

Players step into the shoes of one of the few survivors of an earth shattering earthquake which decimates the city of Chicago. Survival is a key component of the game, but at the same time the protagonist must seek out his daughter and wife.

Players must survive a brutal environment, with collapsing buildings and landslides occurring regularly. There are also baddies, of course, who seem to consist mostly of rogue gangs. Players will be able to use the environment to their advantage in combat, and intimidate enemies with their weapons.

“We know people have been waiting for this game to arrive, and we believe it’s going to be worth the wait,” said Ubisoft’s Adam Novickas.

“I Am Alive presents a unique take on the post-apocalyptic, survival genre by creating more complex and emotional situations for the player.”

To celebrate the announcement, Ubisoft has put together this trailer which shows off some cool looking gameplay segments.
