Minecraft is just weeks away from its big I’M-A-REAL-GAME-NOW launch on 18 November, and over in their Swedish fortress, the Mojang crew is kicking development into maximum overdrive.
This apparently includes adding “two more major features” to the game, according to Markus “Notch” Persson, who declined to elaborate any further because he’s a pathological tease.
“The plan is to stop all new development on October 18, and resume…again after the release on November 18,” he writes. “That will give us one month to focus on just fixing bugs, cleaning up the code, and optimising the performance to make sure the release will be as good as possible.”
In the meantime, the drama between Mojang and Bethesda over the word “scrolls” is ongoing, with the whole thing now going to court to let somebody else decide.
“We are claiming one thing. They are claiming another. We’ve tried to negotiate, but we can’t reach an agreement, so we’re going to court,” said Notch, presumably rolling his eyes over the consummate stupidity of it all.
