Last week we found out that Dead Space 3 will be set on the frozen planet of Tau Volantis, where our hero Isaac Clarke crash lands and must find his way to safety, and presumably off the planet.
Today more details have emerged.
Apparently the game will start out aboard a command centre with Isaac having a chin-wag with the Captain. Isaac gets sent on a mission to save a woman on Tau Volantis and bring her back to Mars. Isaac has a warrant out for his arrest, so the rescue mission seems like a good idea.
Now here’s the juicy bit. It’s quite a big part of what will separate Dead Space 3 from previous games in the series, so if you’re spoiler averse, then you should probably skip the next few paragraphs.
In Dead Space 3, Isaac will have a split personality.
Enter “Shadow Isaac”, who will taunt regular Isaac along the way.
Shadow Isaac will mock Isaac when he makes mistakes, and at a point where Isaac mentions wishing he had not taken the mission, Shadow Isaac retorts by saying “you always turn your back on the wrong things”.
Isaac shouts back into the darkness, telling Shadow Isaac to shut up, only for Shadow Isaac to respond telling him that he’s the one making all of the noise.
This is the sort of dialogue that will pervade the game, and it should make a welcome departure from the previous game’s narrative structure.
While various titbits and details are constantly seeping through the cracks of the interwebz, EA remains tight lipped, saying that it has no news on the Dead Space franchise at this point.
