Epic Games has announced the sequel to its smash hit Unreal Engine 3 powered action RPG for iOS, Infinity Blade II.
Infinity Blade II will become available on iPhone, iPad and iPod touch on 1 December, 2011.
If you believe the PR tripe, then “the critically acclaimed Infinity Blade ushered in a new generation of handheld gaming and became the definitive blockbuster experience on iOS. Infinity Blade 2 builds upon the addictive gameplay and breathtaking visuals of the original game with dozens of new locations set across expansive 3D environments.”
But actually, Infinity Blade is a totally awesome iPhone game that, if you have not seen it, will probably blow your mind just a little.
Thanks to the Unreal Engine 3, Infinity Blade is rendered in startlingly crisp 3D that we’d dare say no other mobile phone game has come close to matching. On top of that, it is a well designed and addictive game, making it a must have for i-device owners.
The announcement of the sequel comes hot on the heels of the iPhone 4S announcement.
The iPhone 4S looks exactly like the iPhone 4, but boasts a dual-core A5 processor and a dual-core GPU, making it a potentially far more powerful gaming device.
However, to fully utilise this power, developers would seemingly have to create games specifically for the iPhone 4S, which seems unlikely at this point.
Coinciding with the announcement, ChAIR has launched Infinity Blade: Awakening, which is a novella written by New York Times bestselling author Brandon Sanderson. Find out more about that here.
