It’s been the industry’s worst kept secret for months already, but here it is – Mass Effect 3 will feature online multiplayer.
Confirmation comes by way of Australian mag PC Powerplay, who splashed it all over the cover of their latest issue.
“Multiplayer comes to Mass Effect 3,” reads the text, in you-know-it’s-important-because-it’s-in-all-capitals. “Fight alongside your friends as the galaxy goes to war!”
“That’s right – Mass Effect 3 is getting multiplayer!” writes Daniel Hindes on the mag’s website. “We travel to BioWare’s office in Edmonton for hands-on time with the series’ first foray into online gameplay, and chat with Mass Effect Series Producer and Mass Effect 3 Project Director Casey Hudson about the decision to go multiplayer in the epic battle for the galaxy.”
Quite what sort of multiplayer it is going to be remains unknown for the moment, although rumour has it that it’s some kind of standalone mode, and not a co-op campaign experience.
Which does seem like a bit of a missed opportunity to have your friends play as Ewoks, but whatever.
