As part of Microsoft’s continuing mission to release Xbox dashboard updates that don’t actually do anything at all, a new Xbox dashboard update is being deployed today that doesn’t actually do anything at all.
“Sometime during the early morning hours tomorrow (Pacific Time, Tuesday, October 11th) we are pushing out a mandatory system update. If you are signed into LIVE already, you may be signed out. Once the update has been completed, you’ll be able to sign-in again and back online in a few moments,” writes Xbox LIVE overlord, Major Nelson, who apparently doesn’t know much about third world broadband speeds.
“This is a general system maintenance update and there are no new features that will show up once your system has been updated.”
It’s probably just some prep stuff ahead of November’s scheduled dashboard makeover, which includes a bunch of TV channel apps that aren’t supported locally.
It also looks pretty.
