One of 2011’s most anticipated games is out in roughly two weeks; and many of you will already have drowned a few hours in the open beta, which is no longer up and running.
Thanks to this extended testing period, DICE now has some time to implement various changes based on feedback received from the beta.
We already reported on the top ten fixes being implemented from the beta feedback – but those aren’t all of them.

DICE will be making some interesting changes to the core game design; some of which have been revealed by Senior Gameplay Designer Alan Kertz.
Refering to the short period of immunity players have after spawning, Kertz said “It’s removed as soon as the player gains control of his player and moves, shoots or aims.”
He also chimed in on the Kobra sight, saying “the Kobra can have 4 sight settings: a dot, a dot and chevron, the crosshairs and just a chevron.”
Regarding dynamic vehicle upgrades for transport vehicles, Kertz said “Transport vehicles have a default set of upgrades since they are not designed to be used as point gaining platforms.“

When asked just what the red dot laser sights do to weapons, apart from annoy enemies when you aim at them, Kertz said that “Lasers increase hip fire accuracy. If your bipod is deployed, it will have little effect. If you zoom, it has none.”
When talking weapons, Kertz said “The XM8 with Magnum is the basis for damage in BF3, then tweaked to fit the larger maps and more open spaces of BF3.”
He also said that the UMP-45 “was only a little OP (over powered). It hasn’t changed much and the handling has not changed at all.”
Battlefield 3 is due out on 28 October, and is being released on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
