Microsoft acquires Splosion Man, Gunstringer dev

12 October 2011

Microsoft has snaffled up Twisted Pixel, the devs behind XBLA megahits The Maw and Splosion Man, and Kinect stinkbomb The Gunstringer, for an undisclosed sum of cash.

The Texas-based company has been inducted into the first party ranks to “help drive further innovation around Kinect and Xbox Live”, according to Microsoft Game Studios VP, Phil Spencer.

“Twisted Pixel has an incredible track record of delivering innovative, critically acclaimed, and most importantly, fun, games,” he adds.

“It is really exciting for us to solidify our long-standing relationship with Microsoft Studios, who we consider to be the leader in digital distribution and creating new innovations in gaming like Xbox Live and Kinect,” says Twisted Pixel CEO Michael Wilford, dutifully reciprocating the ritual mutual admiration stuff.

“As part of the family of Microsoft Studios we look forward to bringing even bigger and richer experiences to Xbox and Twisted Pixel fans around the world.”

The newly in love 2-UP hasn’t yet announced its next move, but the corporate cuddling phase usually lasts a few weeks at least.
