More Mass Effect 3 multiplayer details relayed

12 October 2011

Picking up where yesterday’s info overload of Mass Effect 3 multiplayer details left off, the media data-miners over at StickSkills have leaked loads of additional stuff ahead of an upcoming Official Xbox Magazine feature.

Somebody’s probably going to be in a lot of trouble over this, but hey, it’s none of us, so whatever.

Coincidentally, BioWare has also released an official BioWare Pulse video featurette confirming a lot of the multiplayer info that has been spreading around the Internet.

Basically, and perhaps unsurprisingly, the co-op multiplayer turns out to be (another) Horde clone, putting up to four players up against “increasingly difficult waves of Cerberus foes”, ranging from standard-issue grunts to “assassin-like Phantoms and even the hulking metal titan-esque Atlas mechs”.

Experience points are awarded for “assists, kills, and other similar actions”, and progression and success in this mode will have some effect on the single-player campaign, although just how that’s going to work is not explained.

Correspondingly, everything you do in the single-player campaign will apparently translate into additional resources in multiplayer, dubbed “War Assets”, which will “allow you to purchase things such as allies, friendly fleets, or even a facility such as a radar station”.

Four classes are confirmed in the feature – the Soldier, Infiltrator, Engineer, and Sentinel – although BioWare has indicated that all of the different classes will be available at launch.

You’ll also be able to choose from many of the different Mass Effect races, including humans, Salarian, Turian, Asari, Krogan and Drell.

A couple of screenshots of the multiplayer mode have also emerged and the BioWare Pulse Mass Effect 3 multiplayer video featurette is below.
