Another RAGE patch on the way for PC

16 October 2011

John Carmack is dominating the headlines recently after the release of his newest game, RAGE. While across all platforms the game has been poorly received, the most disgruntled group by far are the PC gamers (aren’t we always?).

With driver problems, zero advanced graphic options, and generally poor performance, the release was described by John himself as a “clusterf**k”.

While a big PC patch was released a week ago in order to repair some of the problems gamers had been dealing with, things are still not close to what people expect from a AAA title.

Now Carmack has announced over Twitter that there’ll be another PC patch on the way, this one a “bicubic-upsample+detail texture option”, if that means anything to you.

If it doesn’t, Carmack promises it will “help alleviate the blurry textures in RAGE.” While it’s great the game is getting consistent patches, angry customers will still be unhappy (perhaps rightfully so) that these patches are even required.

Right now there’s no hard release date, but with id under some serious fire right now, it’s no doubt at the top of the priority list.
