Devil May Cry joins incoming HD Collections

Following hot on the heels of Resident Evil Revival, Capcom have announced the Devil May Cry HD Collection; bringing the cocky Dante to PS3 and Xbox 360 – bad lines and all.

The collection will feature HD reworkings of Devil May Cry 1, Devil May Cry 2 (groan) and Devil May Cry 3 – all fitting nicely together in one neat package, with trophies/achievements and unspecified bonuses.

If one of those bonuses happens to be Devil May Cry 2 not being the worst game in the series, then colour me happy.

Devil May Cry first hit the PS2 back in 2001, starting life as…Resident Evil 4.

Yup! Early into production, Capcom realised they were onto something very different to Resident Evil, and thus a new franchise was born.

DMC1 was met with critical acclaim, which was sobered a bit with its sequel that fell a bit flat in reviews, due to dodgy camera angles and finicky controls.

Devil May Cry 3, the prequel-sequel pumped new energy into the series with a younger, cockier Dante (as if it were possible) and more of the over-the-top antics the games became famous for.

I mean, Dante rides a frikin’ missile in one of the cutscenes for goodness sake.

Catch some more crazy OTT action with Devil May Cry HD Collection, coming out early 2012.
