Halo Waypoint gets an upgrade in time for Halo: Anniversary launch

The ‘Halo-everything’ Halo Waypoint is apparently getting a galaxy-class upgrade when Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary launches next month, according to a report over on Destructoid.

Both the web and Windows Phone versions will see updates, with layout and content management changes on the former, while the latter is getting some kind of futuristic app add-on that streams a live, top-down feed of Halo: Reach and Anniversary games in progress on your console.

Dubbed the “Advanced Tactical Assault System”, the app is basically a GPS that provides important strategic info about teammate positions, statuses, and who has the gravity hammer.

The update will also include a new challenge system somewhat resembling the official daily and weekly in-game challenges in Halo: Reach, now adding the ability to issue your own challenges to friends and earn credits.

It’s not clear for the moment if any of these updates will be deployed for the Xbox console’s Waypoint channel, but I guess we’ll find out soon enough.
