Proving once again that the SimCity series is the greatest series of video games in the history of stuff, Reddit user sneakypanda86 has recreated Taiwan, in its entirety, using only SimCity 4 and the awesome power of reticulated splines.
The project took him “nine months or so” to complete, and while he didn’t use any cheats, he did use some mods. But that’s okay.
“It’s generally agreed by most players that SimCity 4 vanilla is pretty broken, especially the transportation system,” he points out. “[The] Rush Hour expansion improves on that, but not by much. Anyone who’s still playing now is invariably using mods.”
The region apparently has around 3 million inhabitants, which is pretty impressive considering they’ll move out at the slightest hint of nuclear reactor meltdown or spontaneous volcano emergence.

Tips from the pro for generating loads of cash and a strong economy?
“Airports, lots of connections to other cities, Tourist Ordinance, good Transit System, Plazas, Landmarks, educated workforce, rewards (stock market), etc.”
Also, piracy.
Hello Kitty knock-offs, and cheap plastic crap, but I suppose SimCity isn’t quite that authentic.
