PS Vita: South African pricing surfaces

26 October 2011

If you happened across a Kalahari.com product brochure in the past week, you may have noticed a delicious titbit on the back page – peeking out inconspicuously on the top-right of the page.

Why yes, that IS a pre-order pricing for the PS Vita which will be launching on 22 February 2012.

The brochure shows the PS Vita 3G model going on for pre-order at R3,299.95 (a “special” offer down from R3,799.95 according to the website’s product page).

Online store, Takealot.com, lists the pre-order price for the Wi-Fi-only and 3G models of the portable system at R2,799 and 3,499 respectively – but clearly stipulates that prices are subject to change.

We’ve contacted both Kalahari and Takealot for more information regarding their pricing points, and expect feedback soon.

We’ve also reached out to local Sony product distributors, Ster-Kinekor Entertainment, for confirmation on local prices, but had not received feedback by the time of publication.

While nothing is official yet, Kalahari.com must have been pretty damn certain of their price-point to advertise it, en masse, via their printed brochure.

Update: Ster Kinekor has stated that these prices are retail estimates only and that no official pricing has been confirmed for South Africa.

PS Vita will be releasing 22 February 2012 at an unofficial R3,299.95 – so far.
