Battlefield 3 launch problems? EA is working on it

28 October 2011

Oh dear; looks like Battlefield 3 has had a bit of a launch wobbly. One-shot online passes included with boxed copies of the game have been turning up invalid, the Origin authentication servers went down, and both the PC and Xbox versions have had multiplayer server connectivity issues.

We’re expecting a worldwide disc recall because there’s a risk of spontaneous combustion at any moment now.

So, one by one then…

“We are aware of the invalid code issue and apologise for the inconvenience,” reads a notice on EA’s site.

“Since certain retailers are affected by this issue, please check with the retailer where you purchased Battlefield 3 in order to receive a replacement code.”

The issue with Origin authentication has allegedly been resolved, although from comments online, it seems some people are still having issues.

For everything else: “We are going to perform maintenance to improve stability for all platforms on our servers. Therefore, online connectivity will be down from 8:00 to 9:00 UTC. Thank you for your patience,” according to the official Battlefield Twitter feed (that’s 11:00 to 12:00 local time).

Whatever. Most of us have to slog through work today before we can take off our pants and play, and most of this stuff should be fixed by then, right? Hopefully.
