Dead Island dev trademarks “Dead World”

3 November 2011

Although they’ve not actually officially announced anything, Dead Island dev, Techland, has apparently filed a trademark for “Dead World” in America, according to a report over on Siliconera – pointing to the possibility (or maybe inevitability) of a sequel.

Dead Island has been met with a somewhat mixed response from critics, averaging at 71 for console and 80 for PC over on Metacritic, but managed to ship one million copies in America during its launch week in September.

MyGaming’s Alex Hempel gave it a 77, calling it “a solid, but not outstanding game”, citing technical issues and repetitive combat as downers.

I’m probably not supposed to say this, but James originally had the game for review and had to give it to Alex instead – because it was too hard [ahem, “difficult” – Ed].

Movie company Lionsgate recently acquired the rights to produce a film adaptation of the game, headed up by Mummy guy, Sean Daniel.
