Valve has announced via twitter that the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive closed beta will kick off on 30 November, 2011.

The announcement doesn’t come with any additional details, although various reports indicate that Valve has been given out beta keys throughout the year.

Reddit users claim to have been given keys at events such as PAX, Eurogamer expo and the Intel Extreme Masters in New York. It’s unclear if more beta keys will be given away before the end of the month.

Valve is currently developing Counter-Strike: Global Offensive in conjunction with Hidden Path Entertainment, the developer responsible for Counter-Strike: Source.

It is planned for release in early 2012 and will be available on PC, PS3, Xbox 360 and Mac OS X as a download-only title.

Valve has confirmed that the game will support cross-platform multiplayer between PS3, PC and Mac OS players.
