Blizzard lets players test new WoW talent system before release

27 November 2011
World of Warcraft

Ever since the announcement of World of Warcraft expansion Mists of Pandaria we’ve heard that the talent system in the game is undergoing an overhaul.

Blizzard has now posted a new talent calculator on their official website showing exactly how the whole thing is going to work. Players will no longer accumulate talent points, instead each time a player reaches a level that is a multiple of 15, he/she will unlock a new talent, a potential of six skills up to level 90.

This makes the whole process a lot simpler – talent trees and specialisations are being done away with, and talents can be chosen independently of each other.

Blizzard is posting this in order for players to provide feedback on the system, a kind of beta test without the ability to actually play the game. Thus before the system is actually implemented, players will be given a chance to let the developer know how they actually feel about it.

You can find the talent calculator here.
