Steam Autumn Sale bumps older titles back into top 10

28 November 2011

If you aren’t aware of the Autumn Sale that is/was running on Steam, then you would probably struggle to make sense of last week’s top ten selling Steam games.

Sure Skyrim and Modern Warfare 3 are obvious contenders, both being massively hyped AAA titles, but the likes of Portal 2, Dead Island, LA Noire, Fallout: New Vegas and Orcs Must Die! reentering the charts can be solely put down to the fact that they were all selling for super cheap.

Top 10 selling games on Steam: November 20th – 26th

  1. The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim
  2. Portal 2
  3. Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3
  4. Dead Island
  5. Batman: Arkham City
  6. L.A. Noire: The Complete Edition
  7. Deus Ex: Human Revolution
  8. Orcs Must Die!
  9. Fallout: New Vegas
  10. Anno 2070

In the meantime, Skyrim is holding out nicely against Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Batman: Arkham City in terms of Steam’s top selling new releases.

Anno 2070 also enters the charts, albeit at a fairly modest tenth place despite its mostly excellent reviews.

The obvious omission from the sales data is Battlefield 3, which didn’t launch on Valve’s digital distribution platform despite it being the biggest reseller of PC games in the world.

At the time of publication, the sale is still on today, and if you’re quick you can grab the likes of Dead Space 2, Fable III, Modern Warfare 2, Red Faction: Armageddon, Driver: San Francisco, Demolition Inc. and loads more for well below their usual retail prices.
