PS Vita UMD Passport is missing some publishers

Sony PSVita Launch Details

Going through our PS Vita-readiness checklist, my Hello Kitty pencil always lingers hesitantly over the little box next to “backwards compatibility” – which is what Sony is doing their best to make up for with the UMD Passport.

The passport, once downloaded, will allow PSP owners to download their PSP titles onto the PS Vita at a discounted price. Sure, you have to pay, but it’s better than nothing; right?

The only problem is that, according to Andriasang reports, the current list of titles that you can use the passport with is looking a little bare – relatively speaking – with a few big publisher names missing, notably Square-Enix, Capcom, Konami and Namco-Bandai.

The report says that Sony have confirmed that the publishers are “on board” – but there are over 600 PSP games available in the Japanese PlayStation Store, and the current list of passport-compatible titles is 262 – if the companies are on board, you’d expect at least one of their titles to be listed, too.

Still, there’s time. Looks like my pencil will need to hover for a little bit longer.
