Obsidian is making a South Park RPG

GameInformer has revealed that Fallout New Vegas developers, Obsidian Entertainment, are heading to South Park for their next game – and it’s going to be an RPG.

The THQ-published game will be developed for PCPS3 and Xbox 360, and will be under the guidance of series creators, Matt Stone and Trey Parker, who are currently working on the game’s script and will be reprising all their roles as the voices behind the town’s ridiculous (and hilarious) cast of characters.

According to the preview, you’ll be playing as the new kid in South Park, and will have to make friends and save the town from a load of different disasters.

Anyone who’s seen the show knows that Matt and Trey are big gaming fans, and feature games, gaming and gamer culture quite often. We don’t even need to mention the World of Warcraft episode, do we?

Other than that, there’s no other information just yet, but here’s is an awesome picture of the exclusive GameInformer cover which features a bunch of the South Park kids – and in reflection, a good idea of the humour the series encapsulates.

So far we’ve seen Satan, ManBearPig (half man, half bear, and half pig) – as well as a whole bunch of other South Park staples (Mr. Hankey!).

I don’t know if you can tell, but I’m pretty excited about this one.

More info, as soon as it becomes available.
