Apple Europe has named Tiny Wings as its iPhone game of the year.
Tiny Wings is a very basic physics-based side-scroller in which players control a bird as it ramps and flies across a hilly world. The idea is to maintain momentum and race against the sun which is constantly trying to rise behind your tiny bird.
The EU iTunes store chose physics-based puzzle-solver, Contre Jour, as its iPad game of the year
The US iTunes store chose Tiny Tower as its iPhone game of the year, and Dead Space HD as its iPad game of the year.
While developers will be grateful for the accolades, the real winners in the iTunes store were the games that sold most, and unsurprisingly, this honour went, yet again, to Angry Birds in both Europe and the US.
Cut the Rope, Fruit Ninka and Doodle Jump also cracked the top ten in terms of sales.
