Gearbox: Borderlands 2 will be less repetitive

9 December 2011

We absolutely loved Borderlands, but there were certain portions of the game that were a little repetitive. The sequel is now in development, and we’re pleased to learn that Gearbox is aiming to make it less repetitive than the first game.

“I think a lot of what we’re trying to do in this game is, from the character classes to the guns to the loot… Borderlands is really about the loot, about the mechanic of levelling up and getting new gear,” said Scott Kester.

“[We’re] focusing a lot more on the actual gun content creation, making those really interesting and fun… a new thing around every corner, a new loot. I think [we’re] focusing and doubling down on what our core was, designing the best characters and guns and environments we could, to make the loot as interesting as possible.”

“The guns this time around are so much better. From a visual design standpoint they look different, they do different things.”

Yay!

Borderlands 2 is expected to be released on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 sometime in 2012. Check out Kester chatting about it, below.
