Look, this isn’t a totalitarian dystopia.
If you want to hack Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 to get yourself on top of the scoreboard, that’s entirely your prerogative, and men in black jumpsuits aren’t going to be knocking on your door and arresting you in the middle of the night because you just had to exercise your right to freedom of expression or whatever.
But you will probably get yourself a 5000-day ban. That’s just how it works, citizen.
And so, that’s how Infinity Ward is responding to cheaters, glitchers, and other won’t-player-by-the-rulesers in Modern Warfare 3’s multiplayer ranks.
“Player Banned for 5000 days?! Yes. If you see this message, it means you’ve been Permabanned (for something bad),” confirmed Infinity Ward community guy Robert Bowling, over Twitter. Just in case you couldn’t work out the difference between 5000 days and almost fourteen years.
Or, as Guns ‘n’ Roses put it:
But it’s been
Fourteen years of silence
It’s been
Fourteen years of pain
It’s been
Fourteen years that are gone forever
And I’ll never have again
So that too.
It’s pretty simple, boys and girls. Don’t cheat. That’s all there is to it. Seriously.
