Metal Gear Rising’s lead platform is PlayStation 3

15 December 2011

In this little (25-minute long) making-of video for Metal Gear Rising, you might catch a glimpse of the game being demoed – and being controlled by the Xbox 360 controller.

That means that the lead platform for the game is Xbox 360, right? I mean it makes sense, because that’s what now-developers, Platinum Games, did with Bayonetta.

Bayonetta was developed on the Xbox 360 by Platinum, and given to someone else to port over to the PS3, so why would they do anything different this time around?

Well not so, said MGR producer, Atsushi Inaba, via twitter – in fact, this time, Platinum is developing the game on both the Xbox and the PS3 – but the PS3 is the lead platform.

Seeing as the Metal Gear Solid series has always made the PlayStation its favoured home, I guess that shouldn’t be too much of a surprise.

The reason for the Xbox 360 controller? Ironically, it’s the only way to control the demo on the PC – which is being used for the cross-platform development.

Check out the making-of video below, where you can listen to Hideo Kojima explain how he threw his hands up in the air and cancelled the game because he’s Hideo Kojima and he can do whatever the hell he likes, really.
