New Pokemon crossover game revealed

We’d previously reported that there was going to be a big new Pokemon game announced at Jump Festa – a Japanese comic and manga festival held over this past weekend – and early on we speculated that it would probably be Pokemon Grey.

Well, as it turns out, we were wrong.

Instead, what was announced was a Pokemon cross-over title (a first for the series) – in which Pokemons are going to the strategy RPG zone, teaming up with a Japanese game franchise I’ve never heard of called Nobunaga’s Ambition.

From the screens 4Gamer posted, along with other information scoured from the announcement reports, it looks as if every character featured has a different companion Pokemon (probably matching their personality), with the protagonist joining up with Eevee.

For those that don’t know, Eevee can evolve into (currently) seven different states, so it’s probably a sign that the game will have some degree of choice and varying play-style. Other than that, though, there’s not much else known – not even a hint as to whether or not we’ll see it on our shores.

The Pokemon brand is rather huge, globally, so I don’t see why not.

The release date for Pokemon/Nobunaga is spring 2012 in Japan land, and it seems it’s only on Nintendo’s DS, if branding is anything to go by.

If you’re disappointed about not hearing about a new traditional Pokemon game, then hold out until January 14, when Nintendo is expected to make yet another big Pokemon announcement.
