Alan Wake’s American Nightmare will have an arcade survival mode

Turns out Alan Wake’s American Nightmare is more than just a spin-off adventure – it’s a spin-off adventure with a “relentlessly intense” arcade survival mode! I bet your spine is tingling.

The “Fight till Dawn” mode has Alan Wake up against waves of enemies in an all-out battle for natural selection and leaderboard dominance.

So far, so Horde, but the press release also talks about nail guns and Uzis, which sounds a whole lot better than that dinky flashlight. Apparently Alan Wake learned a thing or two about proper personal defence the first time around.

Presumably it’s a single-player mode, though, which does seem a bit of a shame. Everything is better with friends, especially survival modes; and Alan Wake spends far too much time on his own as it is.

The guy needs to get out and socialise a bit; it’s no wonder he’s slightly cracked. In fact, I’m sure if he just had somebody to talk to, this whole thing with the evil doppelgänger wouldn’t have happened.

Alan Wake’s American Nightmare is scheduled to launch on the Xbox LIVE sometime in the first half of 2012.
