Bastion sales and successes make Supergiant very happy

3 January 2012

Proving that good things come to… good things, Supergiant‘s critically acclaimed post-apocalypse romper Bastion has just passed the half million sales mark – officially making it not just a good thing, but a Big Thing™ too.

“When we set out to make Bastion, a sales number like that seemed astronomical to us, so it feels great to have hit that mark,” writes designer Greg Kasavin over on Supergiant’s blog. “It goes to show that a lot of folks out there like what we’re doing and want us to keep going, which is great, because we intend to stick together as a team and do just that.”

Bastion was originally launched on the Xbox LIVE Arcade as part of the annual “Summer of Arcade” promo, and later released on Steam and as a browser title for Google Chrome.

The game has also bagged over 60 awards, including best-of accolades from TIME, CNN, Wired, and Entertainment Weekly, and holds a Metacritic rating of 86 and 87 for Xbox and PC respectively.

Supergiant hasn’t yet announced what they’re going to be doing next, although the team has confirmed they’ll be sticking together for the time being.
