Tomb Raider devs working on new IP

4 January 2012

Everyone’s looking forward to 2012’s Tomb Raider reboot (right?) – and according to a post in Square-Enix‘s blog, developers, Crystal Dynamics, are hard at work reinventing the Lara Croft we all know and love – set to give her a big release later this year.

But despite the team’s schedule being dominated by the younger, grittier Lara and her shipwrecked adventures – the blog post also confirms that Crystal Dynamics will be revealing a brand new IP to the world this year:

“Not only will our team be eating, sleeping, and breathing Tomb Raider, but we’ll also be hard at work preparing to reveal exciting new intellectual property to the world.”

After the flurry of threequels last year, it’s good to see a bunch of new IPs coming from the more well-known studios. 2012 is also Crystal Dynamics’ 20th year anniversary, so you can be sure they’ll want to make it a massive year. If the look of the new Tomb Raider is anything to go by, this is definitely something to look out for.
