Steam logs 5 million concurrent users

You might have seen the sky darken for a moment, the sun turn red, the gathering clouds streaked with lightning as a great host of gods and the valiant dead thundered through on steeds black and grim as a northern winter.

Or you might not have noticed anything at all, but on 2 January, Steam logged a record-breaking 5,012,654 concurrent users bold champions of PC gaming.

I’m sure the recent Steam mega-sale had something to do with that, although the ridiculously huge success of Skyrim – which is also 100% officially Steam’s fastest selling title ever – probably helped. According to the Steam stats page, the game peaked at almost 100, 000 players today.

That’s not bad for a game about a guy who goes around shouting at people and resurrecting dead dragons until he’s arrested – wait, no, I’ve got that backwards.

I signed into Steam recently for the first time in months, so I’m also doing my bit for PC gaming.
