Microsoft improves Xbox LIVE Indie Game policies

5 January 2012

The secret cabal of sorceror-arbiters behind the Xbox LIVE Indie Games hub have redrafted their official demands and sacrificial policies, declaring that games submitted to the service may now be up to 500 MB in size, a substantial increase from the previous 150 MB limit.

The pricing of games has also been restructured, allowing developers to charge just 80 MSP for games up to 150 MB in size – before, any game over 50 MB had to be priced at 240 or 400 MSP.

Developers are now able to release 20 titles on XBLIG, up from a previous limit of 10.

So, basically, everything is bigger and cheaper, and there’s more of it – like a Spur meal in 1992.

“We’re continuing to watch our developer base and adapt the system to the needs of our creators,” reads the announcement over on the XBLIG blog. “We hope you’re all as excited as we are to kick off 2012 with these great updates to the App Hub to enable our developers to make even better content for Xbox LIVE Indie Games.”

If you say “XBLIG blog” fast, it sounds funny. XBLIG blog. XBLIGblog. Xblarrgle.
