Bayonetta producer Hideki Kamiya isn’t exactly a community darling after a couple of hoax tweets early this year landed him in hot water.
However, despite falsely announcing Bayonetta 2 “as a joke”, Kamiya has now said in an interview with Japanese site 4Gamer that he’s looking to garner fan attention again this year, but this time with a real announcement.
In regards to his goals for 2012, the producer said he “”would like to announce a new game and make a comeback on the game scene and be known as more than just some guy who posts on Twitter.” (translated)
While fans may no doubt be excited to get their hands on a new game, some may still be feeling a little salty after Kamiya tweeted on two separate occasions that a Bayonetta sequel was on the way. The last time it happened fellow Platinum producer Atsushi Inaba had to jump in and try hastily repair the damage, saying that Kamiya likes to tweet “jokes that push the limit”.
The producer is obviously not too fond of his current reputation (and his fans clear lack of a sense of humour), and wants to have something real this year to get everyone excited about.
Of course, this all could be another elaborate hoax on his part, at which point his fans will have probably lost their patience and Platinum will have to invest in a muzzle. We’ll keep an eye out for any “takebacks”, although I think we can safely assume the rogue Tweeter has learnt his lesson.
