Fan-made Space Quest game released – Vohaul Strikes Back

9 January 2012

Last week we wrote about a Space Quest II remake which updated the game to 256-clour VGA.

Developed by Infamous Adventures over 5 years, the remake updated the 16-colour EGA, text parser powered AGI engine original to a 256-colour VGA, point-and-click style adventure game more reminiscent of Sierra’s later games.

As the trailer put it, the remake is “An adventure, much like you’ve seen before, merely redone, redrawn, and reprogrammed to the exacting specifications of the Year of the Dragon, 1992.”

Now, a separate team has announced the release of Vohaul Strikes Back, which is a fan-made feature length game set in the Space Quest universe.

The game is the first original Space Quest game of this scale since Space Quest 6 which was released back in 1995.

The game is free to download and play, and you can grab it here – Space Quest: Vohaul Strikes Back.
